Michael Beckurts is an artist whose work has continued to capture us. Drawing from memory to create luminous, vivid scenes, Beckurts' paintings are interpretations of lived moments - both social and solitary - such as family gatherings, farm road walks, nights out and live music. His perspectives are intuitive rather than realistic, encouraging the viewer to navigate the space of the artwork and the places of memory.

“By returning repeatedly to the scene, an emotional connection is formed and the memory entrenched. This is the source I draw from when making a painting.”

  

Michael Beckurts (b.2000) lives and works in Cape Town.
Since graduating in 2021 from the Cape Town Creative Academy, he has been a full time visual artist working in oils, charcoal, watercolour and digitally.
